Delegate Scholarship Program
Who may apply: District 8 residents attending a college, university, trade school or equivalent in the State of Maryland are eligible for the Delegate Scholarship. Current high school seniors and full-time (12+ credits per semester) or part-time (6–11 credits per semester), degree-seeking undergraduate students, graduate students, and students attending a private career school may apply.
You must complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) in order to receive the scholarship award. Students attending out-of-state schools are welcome to apply, but the intended major or program of study must be unique to the out-of-state school and not available at any Maryland institution.
How to apply: Click here to download the scholarship application for the 2016-2017 academic year.
When to apply: Complete and file the Federal Form for Financial Aid (FAFSA) by March 1, 2016. Applications for this scholarship must be received no later than April 1, 2016.
Eligible majors: All majors are eligible for scholarships. Students with a “unique major” may be eligible for a scholarship to an out-of-state school, pending approval by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Majors are considered to be unique when they are not offered at any Maryland university or college. To verify unique major status, students must complete the Unique Major Application and submit it to the Higher Education Commission with the required documentation.
Award Amount: The minimum annual award is $200 and may be held with all State awards. The total dollar amount of all State awards may not exceed your cost of attendance as determined by your school’s financial aid office. Funds may not be available to award all eligible students.
Awards are not automatically renewed. You must re-apply every year.
